Subrahmanya: Kukke Sri Subrahmanya Temple, one of the most revered and wealthiest temples in Karnataka, has once again reaffirmed its status as the richest temple in the state for the financial year 2024–25.
According to official figures, the temple generated a whopping ₹155.95 crore (₹155,95,19,567) in revenue—an increase of ₹9.94 crore compared to the previous year’s income of ₹146.01 crore. The earnings were primarily generated through various rituals, including the popular Sarpa Samskara, and other religious services and sources.
The total expenditure incurred by the temple during the same period was ₹79.82 crore (₹79,82,73,197).
Managed by the Department of Hindu Religious Institutions and Charitable Endowments, the temple is a prominent pilgrimage site not only for devotees across Karnataka but also from other states. Kukke Subrahmanya continues to be a significant center for serpent worship and spiritual practices.
In previous years too, the temple held the top spot in terms of revenue, with Kollur Sri Mookambika Temple coming in second. This year, Kukke Subrahmanya is once again likely to top the department’s official list of highest-earning temples, which is expected to be released soon.

2011–12: ₹56.24 crore
2020–21: ₹68.94 crore
2021–22: ₹72.73 crore
2022–23: ₹123 crore
2023–24: ₹146.01 crore
2024–25: ₹155.95 crore
The temple’s consistent increase in annual revenue underscores its growing significance as a major religious and cultural destination.
