NEW DELHI: A case has been registered against actor Vijay Devarakonda for allegedly making comments against tribal community after the Pahalgam terror attack , PTI reported citing a police official on Sunday.
“The actor made comments in April. However, based on a complaint a case under SC/ST Act was booked against him on June 17,” the official said.
The actor had, however, apologised for his remarks saying, “If any part of my message was misunderstood or hurtful, I expressed my sincere regret. My only aim was to speak of peace, progress and togetherness. I remain committed to using my platform to uplift unify-never divide.”
A complaint filed by Nenavath Ashok Kumar Naik, also known as Ashok Rathod , state president of the Joint Action Committee of Tribal Communities, alleged that the actor made remarks during the pre-release event of the movie Retro, starring actor Surya, that were deeply offensive to tribal communities.
Rathod claimed that the actor’s comments were racially insensitive and hurt the sentiments of tribal people.
