No delay expected: Take-Two's 2025 schedule aligns with GTA 6 release window

Send Push
Take-Two Interactive seems to be mapping out a neatly staggered release calendar for late 2025, highly indicating that Grand Theft Auto 6 (GTA 6) remains on track for its eagerly awaited Fall release. The company's slate features several big hitters evenly spaced throughout the latter half of the year, keeping an obvious opening available for GTA 6 to make its largest splash to date.

Take-Two’s upcoming Fall 2025 game releases set the stage for GTA 6 launch

GTA 6 will see release sometime from October to November 2025, based on current estimates. Take-Two's schedule from now until that time seems cut to generate energy without jamming the launch windows.

Here's the schedule:

  • Mafia: The Old Country – Positioned to release around August 2025

  • NBA 2K26 – Coming out sometime in early September 2025

  • Borderlands 4 – Scheduled for September 23, 2025

Not only does this series avoid conflicting marketing campaigns but also allows each of its franchises to have its moment in the spotlight. Borderlands 4 finishing up September means that Rockstar's GTA 6 can have all the focus in the last quarter of the year with no internal competition. This phased release is a clear sign that a delay for GTA 6 isn't on the horizon right now.

A combination of careful planning, financial expectations, and ongoing development milestones

Aside from timing, Take-Two's strategy shows more sweeping business considerations. During investor meetings, the company has consistently reiterated GTA 6's Fall 2025 time window, which in turn sets financial expectations. Delaying it would have huge consequences, so it seems more likely than not that Rockstar is developing on schedule.

Additionally, phasing significant releases such as Mafia, NBA 2K26, and Borderlands provides ongoing marketing activity with a target audience. Each of these titles addresses a unique segment, creating excitement throughout the year and naturally feeding into GTA 6's launch window.

It is also interesting that Rockstar has been fully developing for a few years, and the December 2023 reveal trailer marked a seasoned development stage.

Every indication is that Take-Two is deliberately planning out its 2025 release lineup with GTA 6 as the anchor. By allowing each significant title space, the publisher not only is doing everything it can to maximize revenues but also ensuring faith in GTA 6's Fall 2025 release. For enthusiasts, the extended anticipation appears to be right on time.
