2025 Stanley Cup finals: Which NHL teams have never won the Stanley Cup and how many times they've made the playoffs?

Game 1 of the 2025 Stanley Cup Playoffs Eastern Conference Final between the Florida Panthers and the Carolina Hurricanes is over and the Panthers won the game. In a few hours, the Edmonton Oilers, the only Canadian team still in the race for the cup, is all set to face the Dallas Stars for the 2025 Stanley Cup Playoffs Western Conference Final. With the 2025 Stanley Cup finals being just weeks away, here are some of the teams that have not had the opportunity to lift the Cup yet.

Which teams have not yet managed to lift the NHL Stanley Cup and how many times have they appeared in the NHL playoffs?


While Montreal Canadiens have had the opportunity to win the prestigious Stanley Cup the most number of times in the history of the National Hockey League, here are a few times that never had the opportunity to.

The Buffalo Sabres played in the NHL playoffs 29 times but unfortunately, the team has never won the prestigious Stanley Cup. The Buffalo Sabres is closely followed by the Vancouver Canucks, the Ottawa Senators and the San Jose Sharks where each of the team has played 29, 17 and 21 times in the NHL playoffs respectively.


Other teams who have had lesser NHL playoff appearances and yet failed to win the Stanley Cup include the Utah Hockey Club, the Columbus Blue Jackets, the Winnipeg Jets, the Nashville Predators, the Seattle Kraken and the Minnesota Wild.


Some teams which are now inactive but failed to win the Stanley Cup when they active include the Arizona Coyotes, the Philadelphia Quakers, the Brooklyn Americans and the Cleveland Browns.


For the active teams which are still in playing in the NHL, it seems like the 2025 season also did not prove to be a good season for the teams. The Winnipeg Jets, the Ottawa Senators, Minnesota Wild had appeared in the playoffs this time but the teams did not manage to make the cut.


All eyes are on four NHL teams - the Florida Panthers, the Edmonton Oilers, the Dallas Stars and the Carolina Hurricanes.

Currently, all eyes are on four of the strongest teams this season; the Florida Panthers, the Edmonton Oilers, the Dallas Stars and the Carolina Hurricanes. Many fans are hopeful that the Florida Panthers might again have a successful run this season like the last time as the team has already won Game 1 of the Western Conference final against the Carolina Hurricanes.


With Game 2 between the Florida Panthers and the Carolina Hurricanes set to begin tomorrow, emotions are on the rise.
