For fans of 'Suits,' Harvey Specter wasn’t just a slick lawyer with sharp suits and sharper comebacks but he was a cultural icon. Now, as talk of spin-offs heats up and with 'Suits: LA' introducing a new chapter, actor Gabriel Macht is opening up about what it meant to play the legendary closer and how he plans to honor the legacy of the character that defined a generation of legal drama.

Talking to The Hollywood Reporter, Macht dove deep into the complexities of revisiting Harvey after all these years. When asked what fresh perspectives he discovered while stepping back into the role, Macht admitted it wasn’t an easy question to answer. He acknowledged that his approach had always been rooted in commitment to craft for serving the showrunner’s vision while working closely with directors and co-stars. “I just did my job,” he said modestly, “but the job included spontaneity, trust and knowing when to take bold choices.”

At the beginning of 'Suits,' Macht said he didn’t see much of himself in Harvey. But as the show progressed and the layers of the character deepened, he found pieces of Harvey’s mannerisms slipping into his own life. “By the end, I was behaving too much like him,” he joked, hinting at how the character’s boldness and control seeped into his off-screen personality.

Still, Macht made it clear that not every part of Harvey felt true to him. He explained that certain traits, especially Harvey’s tough exterior and need to constantly prove himself didn’t always align with who he was. That’s why, as he steps into this new era, his focus is on showing a more grounded version of the character, one that reflects growth and wisdom. “He’s not the same guy who needs to impress every person he meets. He’s evolved.”

Gabriel Macht’s brief but powerful cameo in 'Suits: LA' surprised fans and ignited conversations around a full-fledged return. But for Macht, it’s less about screen time and more about staying true to the emotional depth Harvey gained over nine seasons. “I want to honor Harvey for the vulnerabilities, the insecurities, the way he handled conflict. That’s the Harvey I want people to remember.”
