Indian actor and social media star Vishal Pandey made his big debut at the Cannes Film Festival this week with his first international movie, Far Away From Home. While fans celebrated his success, some people on social media criticized him, claiming he only attended to walk the red carpet.
Vishal has now responded to those comments. “Some people think I came to Cannes just to walk the red carpet and show off outfits. Now I know how hard I worked on my outfits but I came here because my film is part of the festival. And that’s something I’ve always dreamed of,” Vishal said.
He also explained how many influencers have been attending Cannes mainly to show their fashion, and this may have created the wrong impression.
“I know many influencers come here just for fashion, and maybe that’s why people are judging. But for me, it was never about just dressing up—it was about being here with a purpose,” he added.
Vishal opened up about his hard work and passion for storytelling. "I've spent years sweating on crowded sets and cutting reels at 2 a.m. so one day a roomful of strangers could feel a story I helped tell. This moment means everything to me. I’m not here to just take pictures—I’m here to represent a film I’m proud of.”
The young actor ended on a powerful note, saying, “I’m thankful for this chance, and I hope people learn to look beyond the surface and see the journey behind it.”
