Jamshedpur: Potholed roads are putting the lives of motorists are at risk, especially after heavy rainfall lashed Jamshedpur over the past three days.
The potholes on the Dimna-Chandil stretch of the NH 33 are posing threat to vehicular traffic. "It is difficult to gauge the depth of the potholes on the Dimna-Paridih stretch," said Sonari resident Mahesh Sonthalia.
The potholes on the Chandil-Kanderbera road, the road connecting the Inter State Bus Terminus depot to Bhuyadih burning ghat in Sakchi, from Sarjamda Chowk to Pursudih are forcing motorists to go slow. "Traffic on the Parsudih-Tatanagar railway station road comes to a standstill when any vehicle gets stuck in a pothole," said Supriyo Bose of Haludbani in Pursudih.
The condition of Mango-Dimna road and Marine Drive road, which links Kadma to Mango, is no different.
The executive engineer of the state road construction department (Jamshedpur division), Deepak Sahay, said, "Instructions have been issued to the Jamshedpur, Patamda, and Ghatsila subdivision officials to conduct a survey and follow it up with repair work in two days."
The officials at Tata Steel Utility and Infrastructure Services Ltd (TS UISL), which is responsible for the maintenance of the roads in the city, said, "Repairing of the roads is done throughout the year. Special focus is on the monsoon-related road issues. We have a dedicated team working on the survey and repair of the potholes," said TS UISL Spokesperson, Rajesh Kumar Pandey.
