Daltonganj: New CT scan and digital x-ray services at the Medinirai Medical College and Hospital (MMCH) are yet to become functional due to electricity issues.
Medical superintendent Dr Ajay Kumar said, "Although, CT scan machine has now been installed but it is not operational so far due to issues of electricity. We are working on it." Uncertainty is also over the installation and operation of the digital X ray machine as Kumar couldn't give any timeline.
Hospital authorities said the facilities need a dedicated three-phase connection and a separate transformer to become functional. The power infrastructure is yet to be set up, sources said.
A senior physician of MMCH on anonymity said, "Patients in need of the x ray have no access to free facility in the MMCH. An NGO provides it but for a premium per X ray film."
Earlier, free X-ray facility was available to the patients in the TB building, but the facility was demolished four months ago as it had turned dilapidated.
Earlier this week, deputy commissioner Sameera S, who had inspected MMCH raised concern over non-operational of these facilities so far. She was also upset with the fact that ultra sonography facility here doesn't function every day and is available only four days a week to patients.
She detected several other gaps such as improper power supply to the wards, lack of water facility in the female ward and directed hospital management to ensure proper upkeep.
