Ramgarh: Bokaro IG Kranti Kumar Gadidesi on Friday suspended a police officer, who was probing the death by suicide of a schoolteacher, and ordered a fresh investigation into the case.
Sonali Singh, a teacher at a private school in Indira Nagar Colony, died by suicide on June 18. In her four-page suicide note, she alleged that she was being mentally harassed by the police in a separate suicide case.
Saurabh Singh had died by suicide in December last year. His family registered a case with the Ramgarh police against Sonali, accusing her of mentally harassing Saurabh, which allegedly forced him to die by suicide.
On Friday, Sonali's father Vimal Singh met IG Gadidesi and alleged that the investigating officer (IO) in the Saurabh suicide case, assistant sub-inspector (ASI) Omkar Pal, along with Saurabh's sister Shweta and her friend Sonu, had been harassing his daughter for over six months. Sonali had slipped into depression due to the continuous mental harassment, which forced her to die by suicide, he further alleged.
Ramgarh SP Ajay Kumar said, "ASI Pal, posted at Ramgarh police station, was suspended by the IG."
Vimal has registered an FIR against Shweta and others in the Sonali suicide case."
