Dhanbad: A resident of Gangapur village under Maithon outpost in Nirsa block, Harman Maji, allegedly killed his younger brother, Prashant Maji, over their paternal land and a shop on Saturday. Sources said Prashant had been demanding his rightful share in the family property and the shop that was being run by the elder brother. "Prashant was sitting outside the shop when Harman arrived and threw chilli powder into his eyes. As he collapsed in pain, Harman struck him on the head with an iron rod," said a local resident. The police took the severely injured Prashant to Shahid Nirmal Mahto Medical College and Hospital (SNMMCH), where doctors declared him brought dead. Nirsa SDPO RM Bakhla said, "A hunt has been launched to arrest the absconding accused. The cause appears to be a dispute over family property and a running business. The blood-stained iron rod has been seized." Both the brothers were employed at the Maithon Power Limited.
