Two brothers arrested for operating IPL betting racket in Khargone

Khargone: Two brothers were arrested for alllegedly operating online cricket betting racket in Mandleshwar police station area of Khargone district.

Mandleshwar police station in-charge Deepak Yadav told TOI that Riyaz alias Pintu of Indira Jyoti Nagar area of Jaipur, and his brother Qutubuddin, a resident of Mandleshwar, were arrested.

Acting on a tip-off, the house of Qutubuddin in Green Park Colony was searched, where the accused duo were found operating betting related activites amid ongoing IPL matches on Wednesday night.

A laptop, eight mobiles, a register containing accounts worth about 30.22 lakh, a pen and chargers among other items, were seized from the spot.

Preventive action was also taken against the accused, and they were produced on Thursday before the SDM of Mandleshwar, from where they were sent to judicial custody.

He said that both of them used to transfer the accounts to a bookie in Jaipur and were booked in this case.

Yadav added that Qutubuddin is a driver and Riyaz came to Mandleshwar just before the IPL. He mentioned that earlier betting was done through mobile and now the Zoom calling app was also being used.
