Keir Starmer humiliated as Express readers give verdict on 'racist' Reform migrant policy

Reform UK's plan to scrap indefinite leave to remain for migrants is not "racist", according to a Daily Express poll. Readers voted in our online survey on the policy by Nigel Farage's insurgent party after Sir Keir Starmer branded it "racist".

Almost 20,000 people had voted in the poll as of this morning, with 92% saying the proposal is not "racist". Some 7% said it was "racist", while the rest said they did not know.

The Prime Minister sparked a backlash from Reform yesterday when he accused the party of promoting a "racist" policy on immigration.

Mr Farage has vowed scrap settled status for all non-EU migrants, requiring those who have been granted indefinite leave to remain to re-apply under much stricter rules.

Sir Keir said the policy "needs to be called out for what it is", as he spoke to the BBC's Sunday With Laura Kuenssberg programme.

He said: "I do think that it is a racist policy. I do think it is immoral. It needs to be called out for what it is."

But Mr Farage hit back as he accused the Prime Minister of desperation amid Labour's dismal poll ratings.

He said: "Starmer thinks anybody here on a time-limited visa is entitled to stay in Britain forever.

"Labour do not believe in border controls - and think anyone who does is racist.

"This is a desperate attack from a man sinking in the opinion polls and leading a divided party."
