From 1972-6, Miss Tennessee model Linda Thompson lived at Graceland with Elvis Presley.
However, the King was far from monogamous, and she would put up with his infidelities until it became too much, and in the end, she left the Memphis mansion less than a year before he died.
The last time Linda saw the star alive, he was trying to convince her to fly home to go and see her family because he wanted to hang out with a mistress.
In a clip she's shared on her Instagram, the 75-year-old recounted how she challenged Elvis that he'd really had his private jet, the Lisa Marie, flown in just for her, as she knew what was really going on.
Accusing him of having another girl in, the King "lied through his teeth," saying "Honey, no, y'know I would never do that."
Linda confessed: "I remember looking into his gorgeous blue eyes and he was so sincere and just lying through his teeth... I just didn't want to live like that anymore. I didn't want to live at his whim and his beck and call." The old flame shared how she wrote Elvis a letter saying how he would always be the love of her life, but felt she'd lost herself in him. The King was left "shocked and hurt", but understood that she wanted a normal life.
Commenting on the interview clip on her Instagram, Linda captioned the post: "Thank you for this posting... I was just telling this story last night at dinner to a couple of friends and co-writers from Nashville! And Elvis finished by saying 'and no matter what you may hear or read, I love you and I don't love anybody else. You are my little Ariadne Pennington, and the only one that I love.' He even had tears in his eyes as he professed that love. There was however, another girl in a holding pattern on the floor below in our hotel waiting to get the OK to come up. Elvis was not monogamous in any of his relationships..."
