
One unexpected ingredient that costs just 20p will transform brownies like "magic" into moist and delicious treats. A home cook swore by their one-ingredient hack when sharing it on a Reddit cooking board with more than 4.8 million members.
The avid home cook revealed that their "magic" trick makes the brownies moist and delicious and even enhances the chocolate flavour, using a humble mashed banana. The cook, who goes by MindTheLOS, shared that nothing else about the recipe needs to be changed or altered. They wrote: "Add half a banana (mashed) to your brownie recipe. You don't need to take anything out. You will not taste the banana (I promise) but it will just enhance the chocolate flavor and make it extra moist, it's like magic."
Meanwhile, other hacks come from the likes of baking legend, Mary Berry, who has a in her cookbook 'Cook and Share' to make gooey brownies.
The Great British Bake Off star said: "This is our favourite brownie; it has a wrinkled top and a gooey middle. Perfect for eating as it is or you could add a topping of your choice."
Meanwhile, shared a simple tip he swears by for ensuring "amazing" brownies on his website - he said the crucial point is just before they are removed from the oven.
The chef wrote: "The trick is to trust your oven and hold back before slicing for that amazing crisp outside and gooey middle - one very agreeable brownie."
Nigella Lawson believes adding that she doesn't know why people don't make brownies like hers all the time. The celebrity chef said her "go-to" brownie "never fails".
