Arsenal 'list eight players for sale' to fund next big transfer after Gyokeres and Madueke

Arsenal are reportedly open to a flurry of sales as they bid to free up space and funds for another big signing. The Gunners have been one of the busiest sides in the Premier League since the start of the summer transfer window, thrashing out deals for Martin Zubimendi, Kepa Arrizabalaga and Christian Norgaard.

And they are set to add another trio to their ranks, with Viktor Gyokeres, Noni Madueke and Cristhian Mosquera seemingly on their way to the Emirates. Mikel Arteta will need to shed some weight from his squad in order to make room for all the newcomers.

The only first-team regulars to leave so far this summer are Jorginho and Thomas Partey. But others are set to follow, not only so that Arteta ends up with his ideal squad size, but also to raise cash for a potential late-window splurge.

According to The Athletic, Arsenal remain interested in Real Madrid star Rodrygo and Crystal Palace playmaker Eberechi Eze, even with Madueke poised to add an extra option on the wing. And club bosses are 'considering' whether to splash out on another forward player before the window slams shut.

The Gunners' total summer spend will have exceeded £200million by the time Gyokeres, Madueke and Mosquera are through the door. Now, eight players could be sold to balance the books.

The report adds that Arsenal are open to offers for Fabio Vieira, Reiss Nelson, Albert Sambi Lokonga and Karl Hein, who all spent last season out on loan. Oleksandr Zinchenko is also on the chopping block after slipping behind Myles Lewis-Skelly and Riccardo Calafiori in the left-back pecking order.

Jakub Kiwior has been linked with an exit in virtually every transfer window since he signed for Arsenal in January 2023. The Pole has been unable to displace William Saliba or Gabriel Magalhaes in central defence, and the arrival of Mosquera will only increase the competition for minutes.

It's not just fringe players facing down the prospect of a north London exit over the coming weeks. Leandro Trossard and Gabriel Martinelli are cited as the seventh and eighth stars for whom Arsenal could sanction exits, particularly if it freed up the funds necessary to go after another major signing.

Trossard and Martinelli are both on Bayern Munich's radar. And although they have been important first-team players under Arteta, some Arsenal fans feel that a step up in quality is needed at the top end of the pitch to finally haul a Premier League title challenge over the line.
