A headless body has been found lying in the middle of the street in the centre of Portugal capital, Lisbon.
The head was not found near the body, police have said as they launched a murder inquiry. The man's body was found on Patio Salema, a narrow, near a major tourist site and picturesque square.
The body was found at around 6.45am local time and the area remains cordoned off and his remains have not been identified. Police are also investigating the death of a woman, who was found in the boot of a car nearby, just hours earlier.

It comes after girl, 3, was found dead on a popular Greece tourist beach by a horrified passer-by. The woman was said to be in her 50s but the man has not yet been identified. Passers by noticed a smell coming from the car and soon her body was found.

It is believed the woman had been getting changed in the boot of the car, which had no backseats, when she suffered a heart attack, reports The Sun. Her belongings were found in the car, which investigators which could indicate she had been living in the car.
Following an initial murder probe, police have ruled out any foul play. Lisbon is considered to be one of the safest cities in Europe with a relatively low crime rate.
