Kate Middleton tells Wimbledon champion Iga Swiatek to 'ensure' she does one thing

Kate Middleton shared wise counsel with Iga Swiatek following her incredible Wimbledon triumph over Amanda Anisimova, as revealed by lip-reading expert Jeremy Freeman who scrutinised the backstage celebration footage. His analysis pinpointed Kate'smessage to the champion: "Ensure that you have some downtime."

The princess didn't stop there, she had earlier expressed to Swiatek: "Wonderful, extraordinary achievement, very well done. Congratulations and enjoy it. Enjoy the celebrations back home."

Patron of the All England Lawn Tennis Club, Kate was there in person to present the awards after the markedly lopsided final, congratulating both of the athletes.

Kate offered solace to Anisimova, assuring her: "You should be so proud, well done, and enjoy yourself."

An tearful Anisimova spoke highly of her opponent post-match, saying: "Iga, you're such an incredible player, obviously showed today.

"You've been such an inspiration to me, an unbelievable athlete. Congratulations to you and your team."

Swiatek humbly responded shortly after: "First of all I want to congratulate Amanda for an amazing two weeks no matter what happened today.

"I hope we're going to play many more finals here and at other tournaments.

"I didn't even dream [about winning] because it was way too far, I feel like I'm already an experienced player after winning the slams before but I never really expected this one."

Since marrying Prince William in 2011, Kate has become a regular at Wimbledon's Centre Court, gracing the All England Club with her presence almost every year since she became its patron in 2016.

The future queen consort was greeted with a standing ovation upon her arrival in the royal box today, with Jeremy reading her lips as saying: "Sweet, very nice to hear."

Kate, poised as ever, exchanged handshakes with former Wimbledon champ Martina Navratilova, aged 68, and then warmly met tennis icon Billie Jean King, 81, who offered the royal a respectful curtsy.

After Billie's query regarding her well-being, Kate's response was simply "beautiful", before she settled in to witness a momentous final that saw the first Polish champion crowned at the tournament.
