This Morning’s Queen of Clean, Lynsey Crombie, recently launched her own range of cleaning products with small appliance giant Swan.

According to the brand, all products in the Swan x Lynsey range have been personally tested and approved by the home hacks expert herself, promising “everything needed to live a sparkling and organised life”.

The Swan x Lynsey window vacuum cleaner is a simple concept - one gadget with everything needed to clean tiles, windows and shower screens. Just spray the surface, wipe with the included cloth to loosen dirt then suck up all residue and condensation into the 100ml dirty water tank for fuss-free cleaning.

Assembly and charging was fairly straightforward - everything clicked into place as expected for the window vac itself, and charging took just shy of three hours. Swan says a full charge should provide around 35 minutes of cordless cleaning time.

How well does it tackle condensation?

With an ageing loft-conversion bathroom, keeping on top of damp is a must to keep mould at bay. The tiny extractor fan has definitely seen better days, so I decided to put the window vacuum to the test in there after taking a shower.

The Velux window, bathroom mirror and shower screen, as expected, all collected condensation. Having charged and assembled the unit in advance, it made quick work of all three areas, making the mirror in particular sparkle with little effort at all.

The only slight difficulty was handling the width of the squeegee around obstacles and in tight corners. The option of a smaller attachment to tackle tight spaces would be a welcome addition.

What else is on the market?

Fellow shopping expert Narin Flanders sang the praises of the Karcher Window Vac WV2 Plus, which is currently 15% off at £67.99 on Amazon. Boasting almost 1,000 five-star reviews on the online marketplace, Narin loves how effectively it’s tackled damp in her home from condensation, and how it leaves “windows, shower doors, and mirrors sparkling”.

For a more cheap-and-cheerful option, Debenhams stocks the Tower Cordless Window Vac for £29.99, which shoppers have called “absolutely brilliant” for sucking up excess moisture.

How does it handle window cleaning?

Having made quick work of drying out the bathroom, I decided to put the window vacuum to the test with window cleaning. Our front room has tall windows that I often struggle to reach properly without standing on a chair, so the telescopic pole really came into its own here.

Not only does it attach to the microfibre pad for initial cleaning, but it also includes an adaptor to fit the window vac itself, so I was able to reach the tops of the bay window with ease. I was both horrified and impressed by the sparkling finish and the colour of the water collected in the tank.

For jobs within easier reach, a clever spray bottle included, which attaches to a second microfibre squeegee - this has been perfect for quick cleaning on mirrored wardrobe doors. One minor issue was that the attachment on this was tricky to lock into place - the instructions would have benefited from clearer pictures to demonstrate how they are supposed to fit together.

The Swan x Lynsey window vacuum is currently £10 off, down to £39.99 with free delivery on Amazon and Debenhams, and for the same price, but with £3.99 delivery via Swan direct.
