Panvel: World Malaria Day was observed on April 25 by the Panvel Municipal Corporation through a series of awareness initiatives. On the occasion, public awareness regarding malaria was promoted across all Urban Primary Health Centres, Aapla Dawakhana (Public Clinics), and Health Wellness Centres within the municipal limits, in coordination with medical health officers.
Following the directives of Chief Medical Officer Dr. Anand Gosavi, efforts were made to spread awareness among citizens about the symptoms, causes, and preventive measures for malaria. As part of these efforts, officers, staff from all urban primary health centres, and ASHA workers conducted rallies in their respective areas, distributing informative leaflets on malaria prevention. Awareness programs were also organized in various schools to educate students about malaria.
How to Prevent Malaria:
Keep your surroundings free of stagnant water. Ensure puddles are filled and water flows properly. Install mosquito nets or screens on windows. Wear full-sleeved clothes to avoid mosquito bites. Use mosquito repellent creams. Sleep under mosquito nets. Do not ignore fever—seek medical advice promptly. Prevent water accumulation in discarded tyres and coconut shells. Use mosquito coils for added protection. Take malaria medication only under the supervision of a doctor.
