New Delhi, June 29: The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Sunday launched protest against the demolition of slum houses in Delhi. Their protests drew sharp political reactions from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), especially after AAP leader Gopal Rai made a controversial remark during the protest. He warned that they will forcefully enter Prime Minister Narendra Modi's house and take control, if the slum houses were bulldozed. BJP has strongly criticised the remarks made by the AAP leader and accused the party of promoting "anarchist" and "anti-national" sentiments.
Gopal Rai said, “If you bulldoze homes without rehabilitation, use all your police and political power — we’ll enter the Prime Minister’s house and take control.” This remark has been widely condemned and criticised by BJP leaders, who called it irresponsible and dangerous.

BJP said, "AAP's Naxalite mentality has come to the fore once again." BJP national spokesperson Pradeep Bhandari said that Gopal Rai’s comments reflect AAP’s “anti-national mindset”.
“Delhi’s common people stand with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP’s Rekha Gupta. But Gopal Rai’s threat shows the anarchist mentality of Arvind Kejriwal and AAP,” Bhandari told IANS.

Another BJP spokesperson, Nalin Kohli, also criticised AAP, linking Gopal Rai’s comments to earlier incidents. “Kejriwal had once said, ‘I am an anarchist’. Today, Gopal Rai is simply repeating that same anarchist thinking,” he said.
Kohli also claimed that AAP’s statements about supporting the poor are “just a show,” and that the party’s true nature is one of lawlessness and disorder.

Delhi BJP President Virendra Sachdeva called the Jantar Mantar protest a “total flop” and criticised Kejriwal for using slum dwellers for political gain.
He said that five months ago, AAP leaders, including Kejriwal and Gopal Rai, had also tried to provoke their supporters to march toward the Prime Minister’s residence.

The incident has further intensified the political conflict between AAP and BJP in Delhi. While AAP claims to fight for the rights of the poor, BJP accuses it of spreading chaos and instability.
