Lucknow: With the three-tier panchayat elections approaching, the Samajwadi Party (SP) has begun its preparations in earnest. The party has launched a statewide campaign to distribute a leaflet titled “PDA” — an acronym for Pichhda, Dalit, and Alpsankhyak (backwards, Dalits, and minorities) — personally signed by SP chief Akhilesh Yadav.
The pamphlet highlights the achievements of previous Samajwadi Party governments and urges the marginalized communities to unite under the PDA umbrella. It is being sent to villages across the state as part of a grassroots outreach effort.
SP’s chief spokesperson Rajendra Chaudhary said that the Yogi Adityanath-led BJP government has intensified the oppression of Dalits, backward classes, and minorities. “We are working on a strategy to ensure that the PDA leaflet reaches every polling booth. Instructions have been issued to all district and city units to hold community gatherings and discussions around the PDA document. Several districts have already started implementing the campaign,” he added.

Meanwhile, SP president Akhilesh Yadav took aim at the BJP government for its alleged mismanagement of urban infrastructure during the monsoon. “Corruption and negligence under BJP rule have become life-threatening for the people. As soon as the rains begin, the drains overflow. The drainage system in cities has collapsed. Piles of garbage and filth are choking urban areas,” Yadav said in a statement.
He termed the BJP’s much-touted “triple-engine” government — referring to the BJP-led administration at the Centre, state, and local levels — a complete failure.
