In a major initiative to reinforce the city’s commitment to cleanliness, the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) has announced an intensive cleanliness drive along the Sion-Panvel Highway and five key railway stations.
The drive is to be held on Sunday, June 29, 2025, starting at 7:00 AM.
"Although the Sion-Panvel Highway falls under the jurisdiction of the Public Works Department and the railway station premises under CIDCO, the NMMC has taken proactive steps to ensure cleanliness in these high-traffic public zones, recognizing their direct impact on the city's sanitation standards," said an officer.
The campaign is being launched ahead of the nationwide ‘Swachhata Apnao, Bimari Bhagao’ drive, set to begin on July 1 under the Swachh Bharat Mission. As part of this pre-launch initiative, deep cleaning will be carried out on both sides of the highway, as well as at the Belapur, Nerul, Juinagar, Sanpada, and Vashi railway stations.
In a remarkable show of support, more than 3,500 volunteers from the Dr. Nanasaheb Dharmadhikari Pratishthan, Revdanda-Alibag, will participate in the drive.
