Shamli (Uttar Pradesh), May 24: In a shocking incident, a young man was brutally thrashed inside a temple in Uttar Pradesh's Shamli. The incident was caught on camera and the video of the incident is doing rounds on social media. The youth was thrashed for entering the temple while wearing a burqa. The incident occurred at the Barkhandi temple in Shamli.
As per reports, a young man named Sunil entered the temple wearing a burqa and face covered in Barkhandi village. The people present in the temple premises became suspicious after noticing his unusual walk and behaviour. When they stopped him, he ran into the temple where the people caught him. After removing his veil, they discovered he was a man.

The incident took place on Friday (May 23) morning near the Veeron Wala temple. At first, people thought he was a woman but his movements raised doubts. When confronted, he couldn’t explain why he had entered the temple wearing a burqa.
Members of the Muslim community also gathered at the spot. Some people beat Sunil and the incident was recorded on camera by the onlookers and the video of the incident has gone viral on social media. They accused Sunil of trying to defame the Muslim community by creating confusion and tension.
Sunil was later identified as a resident of Yamunanagar in Haryana. He had come to Shamli to visit his relatives in the Nanduprasad locality. The people informed the police about the incident, however, the police arrived late at the location. Meanwhile, Sunil managed to escape from the spot.
The police confirmed that the man in the video is from Haryana. Based on a complaint from local residents, a case has been registered and police are searching for the accused. They are also investigating whether there was a deeper motive or conspiracy behind his actions.
