Parents took a seat at tiny desks and walked into the classroom with school bags and snack boxes to live the classroom life through their children’s eyes. The imaginative event was hosted by Birla C.P. Goenka International School in Walkeshwar to give parents a first-hand experience of their children’s typical school day.
The Birla C.P. Goenka International School organised a ‘step into my shoes – our world, our way’, to give the parents of junior KG and senior KG students a hands-on experience of a typical school day. Dressed in white shirts and blue denims, complete with backpacks and tiffins, they participated in playful learning activities, circle time, art sessions, and storytelling.
The aim was to bridge the gap between home and school, not just with information but with emotion and experience. The idea to turn parents into students was not merely for them to understand their children’s world but to become a part of it.
Seema Kshatriya, principal of the school, said, "When I saw parents walk in with bright eyes and open minds, ready to be students again, it was truly moving. Somewhere in the midst of all the laughter, the colouring, the singing and exploring, they connected with what their children feel every day. This event was our way of inviting parents into our world, so they could not only see but live the philosophy we believe in."

Dr. Vimal Munot, parent of a Jr. KG student, said, "I genuinely didn’t expect to feel this emotional. Sitting in that classroom, painting and laughing, I felt like a child again. But more than anything, I finally understood what my child experiences every day."
Nimesh Chandan, parent of a Sr. KG student, expressed, "I was smiling the entire time. The activities, the attention to detail and the energy were such a refreshing experience. I could see how much thought and love goes into each child’s day here. It gave me a whole new respect for what learning looks like today."
