Mumbai: A tragic road accident in Mumbai’s Park Site area on Wednesday night claimed the life of a young man after a water tanker allegedly rammed into a motorcycle. The driver fled the scene, and police have launched a search operation.
According to the complaint filed by Mehfuz Hashmi, he and his friend Salman were returning from Tagore Nagar on a Pulsar motorcycle after picking up food around 11:45 PM. As they approached the Vasant Rubber Factory on LBS Road, a speeding water tanker hit their bike from behind.
The impact was so severe that the motorcycle got stuck in the tanker’s bumper and was dragged a considerable distance. Salman sustained serious chest injuries in the crash.
Hashmi immediately called two friends for help and rushed Salman to Mahatma Phule Hospital. However, doctors declared him dead around 2:00 AM. The Park Site Police have registered a case against the unidentified tanker driver under Section 304(A) (causing death by negligence) and other relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Efforts to trace the driver are currently underway.
