Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday delivered a sharp message on national security and cross-border terrorism, with a particular focus on Operation Sindoor at a public rally in Alipurduar, West Bengal.
Referring to India’s military campaign following the Pahalgam attack, the PM 'declared', “From this land of Bengal, I declare on behalf of 140 crore Indians that Operation Sindoor is not yet over.”
"There was a lot of anger in West Bengal too after the barbarity committed by terrorists in Pahalgam on April 22. I understood very well the anger that was within you. The terrorists had the audacity to wipe away the sindoor (vermilion) of our sisters. Our army made them realise the power of sindoor," he said.
PM Modi further spoke about the symbolic importance of “sindoor” and the protection of Indian women’s dignity.
“Terrorists had dared to wipe out sindoor of our sisters, but our forces made them realise strength of sindoor,” he said, drawing loud cheers from the crowd.
Modi credited the Indian armed forces for decisive action against cross-border terror camps, and said, “We destroyed cross-border terror infrastructure, which Pakistan never thought of.”
He also reminded the audience of historical events, particularly the 1971 Bangladesh Liberation War, during which the Pakistani army committed widespread atrocities. “No one can forget atrocities by Pakistan army in erstwhile East Pakistan and terror it had unleashed there,” the Prime Minister said.
Modi added, “Pakistan, which fosters terrorism, has nothing positive to offer to the world. Terrorism and mass murder are the biggest expertise of Pakistan army; whenever there is war, they face defeat.”
PM Modi visited Bengal to lay the foundation stone for a City Gas Distribution (CGD) project in Alipurduar and Cooch Behar districts, marking a major step forward in energy infrastructure for North Bengal.
The project, with an investment of over Rs 1,010 crore, aims to deliver Piped Natural Gas (PNG) to more than 2.5 lakh households, over 100 commercial establishments and industries, and Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) to the transportation sector through around 19 CNG stations.
