Mohanlal's son Pranav, who once worked as a labourer on a farm, is dating. Not Kalyani Priyadarshan, confirms director

Malayalam actor Pranav Mohanlal, son of iconic star Mohanlal, continues to capture public curiosity — not just for his acting choices, but also for his unconventional lifestyle. Known for maintaining a low profile despite being one of the most prominent star kids in the Malayalam film industry, Pranav has recently been making headlines for personal reasons.

Earlier, it was revealed that Pranav was spending time in Spain, participating in a “Work Away” program on a farm. According to his mother Suchitra, he was engaged in hands-on labor, caring for animals like goats and horses, and working in exchange for food and shelter instead of money. Suchitra emphasized that Pranav values experiences over material gain and prefers to follow his own path, even when it means stepping away from film offers. "I keep urging him to do at least two films a year, but he doesn’t always listen," she shared. "Sometimes I think he’s right; there needs to be a balance in life."

Rumors Put to Rest: Not Dating Kalyani Priyadarshan
For quite some time, Pranav had been linked with his Hridayam co-star Kalyani Priyadarshan. The two shared a strong on-screen chemistry, leading fans to speculate about a real-life romance. However, director Alleppey Ashraf has now clarified that these rumors are unfounded.

In a video shared on his YouTube channel, Ashraf said he directly asked actress Lissy, Kalyani's mother, about the rumored relationship. “I asked Lissy directly...She told me, 'If they want it, it's fine — but there's nothing like that between them. They're like siblings. Appu is like a hero to all of us. He's in love, yes, but not with Kalyani. He's with a girl from Germany.'”

Who Is the Mystery Woman?
The confirmation aligns with recent public appearances. At the preview screening of Barroz, directed by Mohanlal, Pranav was seen accompanied by a foreign woman. She attended the event with his family and was later seen leaving the venue with him. Footage of Pranav escorting her to the car has been widely shared across social media. Moreover, earlier photos of the two together while abroad have also emerged online, suggesting that this is not a new development.

A Career on His Terms
While the media remains curious about Pranav's career choices, his mother insists that the final decision always rests with him. Though she continues to read scripts on his behalf, Pranav is known to prioritize his interests in travel, music, and writing. His debut in the industry came as a child artist in Punarjani, for which he won the Kerala State Film Award. After a brief stint as an assistant director, he returned in 2018 with Aadhi, followed by the successful Hridayam in 2022.
