UPSC ESE Registration 2026: The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has begun the online registration process for the Engineering Services Examination (ESE) 2026. Interested and eligible candidates can apply through the Commission's official website, upsc.gov.in or upsconline.nic.in. The deadline for applications is October 16, 2025. A total of 474 positions will be filled through this recruitment drive.
Who can apply?
Candidates applying for the Engineering Services Examination 2026 must have an engineering degree from a university established by an Act of the Central or State Legislature in India. Additionally, engineering degrees from institutions established by an Act of Parliament or other educational institutions recognized under Section 3 of the University Grants Commission Act, 1956, will also be valid.
Regarding the age limit, candidates must be at least 21 years old and at most 30 years old as of January 1, 2026. That is, the applicant must have been born not earlier than January 2, 1996, nor later than January 1, 2005.
Application Fee
The application fee for all candidates is ₹200. However, female candidates, Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST), and Persons with Disabilities (PwBD) categories are completely exempted from paying the application fee. This provision makes the application process simple and affordable for candidates from these categories.
Candidates can pay the application fee by depositing cash at any State Bank of India branch, or online through Visa/Master/RuPay credit/debit card, UPI, or internet banking of any bank.
Prelims Exam Date
The preliminary examination for the UPSC Engineering Services Examination (ESE) 2026 will be held on February 8, 2026. Candidates will have the opportunity to appear for this examination at various centers across the country.
The selection process is completed in three stages. First, the Prelims exam, then the Main exam, and finally the Personality Test (Interview). The final result is prepared based on the scores obtained in these three stages.

UPSC has released a helpline number to assist candidates during the application process. If candidates need any information regarding filling out the application, paying fees, uploading documents, or any other exam-related information, they can contact 011-24041001.
This helpline will be available on all working days from September 26, 2025, to October 16, 2025. Candidates can call this number between 10:00 AM and 5:30 PM to get their problems resolved.
