Chelsea sitting on £250m goldmine as stunning new updates emerge

Since Todd Boehly and Clearlake Capital joined forces to buy Chelsea Football Club from Roman Abramovich in May 2022, the Blues have signed some of the most exciting young players in the world.

The American consortium was heavily scrutinised at first, forking out hundreds of millions on unearthed talent from across the world. But, as the likes of Estevao Willian, who they agreed to sign well in advance of his arrival, are slowly integrated into the starting lineup, they've proved there's method to the madness.

Back in June 2024, Chelsea wrapped a deal worth an initial £29m (€34m) for the teenage sensation. At the time, many berated Boehly and Clearlake, questioning the project, but it has since proven to be a shrewd investment – on and off the pitch.

Speaking at the Qatar Economic Forum with earlier this year, before the Blues won the Conference League and Club World Cup, Boehly explained why he's so excited about what the future holds at Stamford Bridge.

The American billionaire said: "We think we have one of the best young teams. We were early on doing seven, eight, nine-year contracts because we really wanted to make sure that we could keep the team together for a long time.

"In order to have a really good team you need stability within the team, environment. The only way that comes is through time. We set it up to be able to benefit from that."

So, with that being said, football.london has taken a look at the 'highest-valued teenagers' at Stamford Bridge by the CIES Football Observatory, and how they compare to the likes of Lamine Yamal.

Estevao Willian – £104m ( € 118.1m)

Estevao has been priced as the second most valuable teenager in the world behind only Lamine Yamal (£307.7m/€349.6m). The 18-year-old winger has enjoyed a superb start to life at Chelsea, scoring four goals and providing an assist in less than 700 minutes of action.

Jorrel Hato – £59m ( € 67.1m)

The CIES Football Observatory has priced Hato, who the Blues signed from Ajax in the summer for just £37m, as the third most valuable teenage defender in the world. Pau Cubarsí (£99.2m/€112.7m) of Barcelona tops the charts, with Myles Lewis-Skelly (£74.7m/€84.8m) of Arsenal taking home another silver medal.

Marc Guiu – £38.6m ( € 43.8m)

Chelsea signed Guiu from Barcelona for just £5m in July 2024. The 19-year-old striker enjoyed a promising debut campaign, and, just as he looked set for a spell in the starting lineup, he suffered an injury.

Eager to give Guiu more opportunities, the Blues sent him on loan to Sunderland in the summer. But he was swiftly recalled when Nicolas Jackson forced a move to Bayern Munich.

Tyrique George – £25.3m ( € 28.7 m)

George has forced himself into Enzo Maresca's side on numerous occasions, and he rarely disappoints in the big moments. The Cobham graduate has scored some important goals for Chelsea over the last year or so, establishing himself as one of the world's cleanest teenage ball-strikers.

Josh Acheampong – £23.3m ( € 26.5m)

It's often rare to see a teenage centre-half get opportunities at the very highest level in their preferred position, with many forced out wide or into midfield. But, Acheampong has bucked the trend and proven he's capable of becoming a key player for Chelsea.
